  • Champions fore Charity Kicks Off New 2024-2025 Season

    The Valero Texas Open is pleased to announce that two hundred and twenty-one (221) charities and schools from San Antonio, Austin, Corpus Christi and surrounding cities have registered thus far to participate in the annual fundraising campaign Champions fore Charity. Participating charities, schools, and program sponsors gathered together to network and get their program materials for the 2024-2025 fundraising campaign. Champions fore Charity program Ambassadors Randy Carroll of KJ 97, David Chancellor of WOAI’s News 4 San Antonio, and Sarah Forgany of KENS’s 5 News helped kick things off and get everyone excited about the new season. You could feel the energy in the air as everyone gathered to celebrate the campaign. The fundraising program provides nonprofit organizations with an unique and engaging platform to solicit donations while keeping 100% of the funds raised plus incentives, including a 7% matching gift opportunity provided by the Valero Texas Open. Individuals and corporations from around the world are encouraged to participate and support their favorite cause through Champions fore Charity, while knowing contributions are tax deductible and are maximized through the financial incentives the Valero Texas Open provides to participating organizations. The donation platform is dynamic, which provides donors a chance to search participating organizations by region as well as charitable mission. Donors can click to learn more about the organization including the fundraising goal and how funds will be used amongst other useful features to help tell the story of the charity and the services provided.   • Valero Texas Collegiate: Tournament Recap

    The Valero Texas Collegiate golf tournament kicked off Saturday, September 21 with a three-day tournament which concluded on Monday, September 23, 2024. The tournament held at TPC San Antonio featured some of the finest college golfers in the country as well as some storied golf programs in the NCAA. The University of Texas at San Antonio served as the tournament host and competed with teams that include the current top-ranked universities Auburn University, Clemson University, East Tennessee State, University of Georgia, Louisiana State University, Mississippi State University, University of Oklahoma, SMU, University of North Florida, University of Mississippi, Texas Christian University, University of Tennessee, University of Virginia, and Vanderbilt University. The final round resulted in a two-man sudden death playoff, where both played hole 18 again resulting in Virginia’s Ben James winning the Valero Texas Collegiate and earning an exemption into the 2025 Valero Texas Open, to be contested April 3-6. Ben James is No. 5 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings.
