TU Arena at Towson University is a 5,200-seat venue for athletics, sporting events, concerts, commencements and more. Four Tiger athletics teams compete in this facility: men’s and women’s basketball, volleyball and gymnastics.
The facility enhances Towson University’s campus and connection to the community by creating new opportunities to host events for students, neighbors and residents throughout Baltimore and the state of Maryland. It is the current home of the Baltimore Blast of the Major Arena Soccer League plus the facility hosts various local events during the year, ranging from athletics, concerts, fairs/exhibitions and much more.
During the 2019-20 basketball season, the arena debuted the C&R Pub Room, the hospitality room of TU Arena, run by Van Wagner Sports & Entertainment.
The 117,000-square-foot arena opened in fall 2013. It was awarded LEED Gold certification for energy use, lighting, water and material use, in addition to a variety of other sustainable features. By using less energy and water, the building saves money for students and taxpayers; reduces greenhouse gas emissions; and contributes to a healthier environment for students, staff, guests, athletes and the larger community.
The 2019-20 season saw a true home court advantage for the Towson programs, with all Tigers teams combining to go 36-12. Two teams that call TU Arena home, women’s basketball 2018-19 and volleyball in 2019, were Colonial Athletic Association champions.
Several banners hang in the rafters of the TU Arena, including the Towson Athletics Helper Helper national championship for community service in the Fall 2018 semester, having more community service hours than any other athletic department in the country that semester.
