At a ceremony on May 31, 1997, Ithaca College president James J. Whalen renamed what had been Upper Terrace Field as Kostrinsky Field, in recognition of former Bomber softball coach Doris Kostrinsky. A stone marker noting the renaming of the field is placed behind the center field fence.
Following the 1993 season, 40-foot field-level dugouts were constructed along the first and third base lines. Permanent aluminum bleachers that seat more than 500 spectators were added in the late 2000’s. That upgrade also included the addition of a climate-controlled indoor press box and rooftop viewing deck for video work or additional media viewing.
There is an umpire room, a team room and grounds crew storage areas. Two bullpens and two batting cages are also part of the facility. A new scoreboard that includes electronic display of team names, an inning-by-inning line score and color message center was installed in 2011. Kostrinsky Field has hosted numerous playoff games, including NCAA regional tournaments and Empire 8 championship tournaments.
