Overview
In 1984, the Gustie Softball Field was constructed on the most northern point of campus. For many years te field functioned as a "bare bones" facility with a chain-link backstop, no fence along the baselines, no dugouts, and a snow fence as the outfield boundary. Fans watched games from the hillside behind home plate and along the third base line. Chain link fencing and dugouts were later installed to enclose the field.
In 2008 under the direction of Athletics Director Al Molde and coach Jeff Annis, the field received a number of improvements, including a press box and terraced retaining walls behind home plate to give fans an amphitheater setting. Other improvements included a new digital scoreboard, windscreen on. the outfield fence, and flags attached along the outfield fence line.
