Ice Arena | Basketball Arena | Tennis Dome | Upper and Lower Fields

Elmira College also has an off-campus athletic complex, the Murray Athletic Center. Comprised of three geocentric domes, the MAC is the premier location for all other sports EC offers.  The Murray Athletic Center has six squash courts, a media room, and a smart classroom used by our athletic teams for film sessions.  The world's first geodesic dome athletic complex, the Murray Athletic Center, is one of the most unique athletic facilities in the Northeast. Located eight miles from the main campus, it features a  3,200 seat hockey arena, a 2,000-seat gymnasium, a 38,000 square-foot field house with four indoor tennis courts, six squash courts and two playing fields.

Ice Arena  
The Ice Arena is the home location for our nationally recognized men’s and women’s ice hockey programs. A large community and student following make men’s and women’s ice hockey games a destination during the winter months in Elmira.  The Ice Arena is open on the weekends for public skate and there are also times in which the public can skate with Elmira College men’s and women’s hockey players in the Skate with an Eagle event.  The men’s ice hockey team has called the Murray Athletic Center home since 1973 while the women’s ice hockey team has played its games in the Ice Arena since its inaugural season in 2001.  Our men’s hockey program has produced 24 NCAA All-Americans and has won nine ECAC West Championships.  Our women’s hockey program has been widely successful in its first 13 years of existence, producing 15 All-Americans, winning seven ECAC West Championships and bringing home three NCAA Division III National Championships.  
  
Basketball Arena/Upper Mezzanine  
The Murray Athletic Center also has a basketball court that is used for varsity and junior-varsity practices. Upstairs in the mezzanine, you can find the nationally ranked cheerleading squad practicing night after night.  
  
Tennis Dome  
The last dome in the Murray Athletic Center houses four indoor tennis courts where the men’s and women’s tennis teams practice and play their matches. These purple tennis courts give the teams a place to practice all-year round despite what weather hits Upstate New York.  There is also a designated area of the dome for weight training where many varsity teams hold workouts. This area has been recently updated with new equipment to better serve our student-athletes.  
  

Upper and Lower Fields  
Outside of the domes, you can find the Field Hockey field. This grass field, which is one of the last grass field hockey fields around, is where the EC Field Hockey team practices and plays their home games.  The final feature of the Murray Athletic Center complex is a lighted soccer field which is where the JV men’s and women’s soccer teams play their home games. It is also used as a practice field for the varsity soccer and lacrosse teams to get accustomed to playing under lights for any night games on their schedules.
