Hart Center Rink
The Hart Center Rink serves as the home for the Holy Cross men's and women's ice hockey teams. The rink was renovated in the summer of 2016, and now features spacious locker rooms and coaches offices for both the men's and women's teams.
The building opened in 1975, then known as the Hart Center, with a basketball arena and ice hockey rink. In 1983 a swimming pool, rowing tank, training room and locker rooms were added to the facility. The Smith Wellness Center then opened in 1997, providing space for varsity and community exercise and training.
Over the years, the Hart Center Rink has been a model of excellence for other rinks to emulate. The rink has set the stage for battles against the likes of Boston College, Maine, Merrimack, UMass and Notre Dame. In 1999 and 2002, the Hart Center RInk was the venue selected to host the MAAC championship, while in 2006 it played host to the Atlantic Hockey championship.

Hart Center Namesake: Without question one of the most well-known Jesuits ever at Holy Cross, the Rev. Francis J. Hart, S.J., created and served as the director of Holy Cross' intramural program for more than 40 years. His passion for athletics, both recreational and at the varsity level, were a part of the fiber of Crusader athletics for decades. In recognition of his many contributions to the Holy Cross athletics program, the Hart Recreation Center was named in his honor in 1975. He passed away in 1986.
Luth Athletic Complex Namesake: The Luth Athletic Complex is named for John E. Luth '74 and Joanne Chouinard-Luth, who donated $32.5 million to the College in 2015 towards renovating and expanding the athletics complex. John E. Luth is the founding partner, chairman and chief executive officer of Seabury Group LLC, the preeminent global aviation advisory firm. Dr. Joanne Chouinard-Luth practiced dental medicine in Chicago for 30 years.
