ESH Ice Arena

In the time since ESYSF acquired the rink in 2014 and renamed it the East Side Hockey Arena, we have made a charge to revitalize the area and become partners with a number of local community organization to provide neighborhood and underprivileged boys and girls witht he opportunity to play hockey.  Being 1 of only 2 indoor facilities in the city, and 1 of 3 total amateur rinks, we felt the importance of keeping amateur hockey alive on the east side of Detroit, and the surrounding communities.

Through generous donations to our 501c3, and the reinvestment of ice fees proceeds back into the rink, ESH Arena has been transformed from a rink in sever decline, to a rink that our community can be proud of.  We have been able to complete over $1,000,000 in improvements benefitting our children and the community, including a new roof and dehumidifier, upgraded lobby, concessions, locker room, bathrooms, stands and pro shop.  Replaced dasher boards, broken safety glass, ice leveling and rubber flooring.  We have applied fresh paint throughout the rink, including critical support infrastructure, and have also replaced the original old failing Zamboni.  Most notably, over the course of an 18 month time period, we have invested an additional $300,000 updating our refrigeration system from a Freon to Ammonia base.  This has allowed us to comply with new FDA regulations, as well as provide a safer and more efficient rink for the future.  In addition, in honor and memorium of original founder, Tim Sullivan, the Sullivan Memorial Annex came to be.
