These courses offer instruction in a variety of dance forms such as ballroom, salsa and latin.

These courses, designed for participants between the ages of 6-12, fall within visual arts area that may include drawing, painting, and pottery.

CampTO is a fun and creative full-day experience. Participants will enjoy games, arts and crafts, sports and more while making new friends. Water play or Swim days will also be enjoyed, dependent on weather and camp location.

These camp programs include a variety of age groups between 6 to 12 years old.

The Extended Hours option provides supervised care before and/or after camp for children registered in City of Toronto, Parks, Forestry and Recreation camp sessions.

This group of programs is suitable for all fitness levels, focusing on providing cardiovascular exercise that use large muscle groups. Classes may include music and dance movements to create an aerobic workout. Most classes will also include a muscle conditioning component. Small equipment may be used.

Programs may include: Zumba; HIIT: Boot Camp; Cardio Dance: Bollywood; and Cardio Dance: Hip Hop.

Classes include exercises that focus on strengthening core muscle groups.

Enjoy the benefits of improved health, relief of stress and concentrated relaxation. Emphasis is on general health and fitness through the development of slow and controlled movements in a fixed sequence.

Various styles are offered which may include: Tai Chi, and Qigong.

Classes include exercises that focus on a series of postures promoting flexibility, specific breathing and relaxation techniques, while strengthening and toning muscles.

Various styles are offered, these may include: Yoga/Pilates Fusion, and Yoga: Power.

An opportunity to interact and socialize with other participants through a variety of activities and interests.

Introduction of front & back swim, front, side and back glide, submersion & breath control, surface support and deep water. Continuous swim of 25 to 50 metres.

Prerequisite: None.

Development of front crawl, back crawl, glides, surface support and deep water. Introduction of stride entry, eggbeater and breaststroke. Continuous swim of 50 to 100 metres.

Prerequisite: Successful completion or skill ability equal to Adult Swim 1.

A program that promotes and encourages fitness through the sport of swimming to improve swimming ability through stroke improvement, distance and interval drills.

Prerequisite: Must be 17+ years old and able to swim two lengths of the pool (50 metres) continuously.

This course is generally offered in an extended 9-class format. Bronze Cross teaches the difference between lifesaving and lifeguarding, the principles of emergency procedures and teamwork. Candidates must be able to swim 400 metres in 11 minutes or less by the course exam date.

Please bring Canadian Lifesaving manual received in Bronze Medallion.

Prerequisites (current or expired): Bronze Medallion and Emergency First Aid with CPR-B or Standard First Aid with CPR-C from an approved provider.

This course is generally offered in an extended 9-class format. The Bronze Medallion component teaches how to manage complex water rescues through the development of physical fitness and judgment skills. Candidates must be able to swim 400 metres in 12 minutes or less by the course exam date. The Emergency First Aid (CPR-B) component teaches victim assessment, CPR and choking, and first aid treatment of external bleeding, heart attack, stroke and wound and burns.

Prerequisite: Minimum age 13 years old or Bronze Star. Candidates with Bronze Star, that are under 13 years of age, can register for this course by calling 416-396-7378 or visiting an in-person registration site.

This course serves as an excellent preparation for Bronze Medallion. Participants develop problem solving and decision making skills, learn one-rescuer adult CPR and obstructed airway response, how to contact Emergency Medical Services (EMS), and develop Water Smart confidence and Lifesaving skills.

Prerequisite: Minimum 9 years old.

First level of the Challenge Swim program which focuses on an introduction to backstroke starts and somersaults for flip turns. Development of interval training and swimming drills to improve fitness and endurance (200m continuous swim) in a non-competitive environment. Swimmers are challenged to improve their own personal swim times and skill.

Prerequisite: Successful completion or skill ability equal to Ultra Swim 7.

Third level of the Challenge Swim program which focuses on an introduction to relay starts. Development of interval training and swimming drills to improve fitness and endurance (500m continuous swim) in a non-competitive environment. Swimmers are challenged to improve their own personal swim times and skill.

Prerequisite: Successful completion or skill ability equal to Ultra Swim 7 or Challenge Silver.

Second level of the Challenge Swim program which focuses on an introduction to relay dynamics and breaststroke and butterfly starts. Development of flip turns, stroke turns, interval training and swimming drills to improve fitness and endurance (400m continuous swim) in a non-competitive environment. . Swimmers are challenged to improve their own personal swim times and skill.

Prerequisite: Successful completion or skill ability equal to Ultra Swim 7 or Challenge Bronze.

Program designed to promote comfort and safety in the water for the caregiver and child. Introduction to entries & exits, submersion & breath control, and basic floats with assistance. One child per caregiver.

Prerequisite: None

Program designed to promote comfort and safety in the water for the caregiver and child. Development of front float, back float and surface support. Introduction to front and back glide and submersion. One child per caregiver.

Prerequisite: Successful completion or skill ability equal to Guardian Swim 1.

Program designed to promote comfort and safety in the water for the caregiver and child. Development of all skills unassisted. Introduction to front swim with basic arm action and jump into the water with personal flotation device (PFD). One child per caregiver.

Prerequisite: Successful completion or skill ability equal to Guardian Swim 2.

This course is offered with the Lifesaving Society. This recertification course offers a chance to maintain current certification at the National Lifeguard level in a pool setting. Your lifeguarding skills will be tested based on physical standard, judgement and skill. Candidates are required to bring their own whistle and proof of original certification.

Development of front swim, back swim and sidekick. Introduction into jumping into deep water. Continuous swim of 10 metres.

Second level of the Swim Patrol Program which focuses on 200 metre timed swim, 100 metre fitness medley, assessment of unconscious victims, treatment for shock and obstructed airway procedures.

Prerequisite: Must be 9+ years old and successful completion or skill ability equal to Ultra Swim 9.

First level of the Swim Patrol Program which focuses on 100 metre timed swim, 350 metre workouts, assessment of conscious victims, contacting Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and treatment of bleeding.

Prerequisite: Must be 9+ years old and successful completion or skill ability equal to Ultra Swim 8.

Third level of the Swim Patrol Program which focuses on 300 metre timed swim, 600 metre workouts, treatment of bone and joint injuries and respiratory emergencies including asthma and allergic reactions.

Prerequisite: Must be 9+ years old and successful completion or skill ability equal to Ultra Swim 9.

A program that allows swimmers to work on stroke correction and improving technique through drills and progressions focused on front crawl, back crawl, elementary backstroke and breaststroke.

This course is offered with the Lifesaving Society. Candidates will learn to organize, plan, teach and evaluate swimming, lifesaving and first aid skills. Candidates will work to develop skills in the area of class management, teaching, evaluation, leadership, communication and administration. With the successful completion of this course candidates will be qualified to instruct the Toronto Learn to Swim program, the Lifesaving Society Swim for Life program, Emergency First Aid with CPR-B, Rookie Ranger and Star Patrol and Bronze Star, Medallion and Cross.
