Surface: FieldTurf playing surface; Mondo Track surface
With seating for 7,500, John A. Farrell Stadium provides spectators with a picturesque football game day atmosphere, exciting competition on the field, and a gorgeous fall season landscape as a backdrop that was recently identified as one of the most scenic small-college football venues in the country. West Chester christened the new football stadium on Sept. 26, 1970 with a 42-0 shutout over East Stroudsburg. The stadium served as the temporary home to both the Philadelphia Independence (of the Women's Professional Soccer League) in 2010 and the NFL's Philadelphia Eagles for their training camp from 1980 through 1995. Today, it is home to a football program that boasts the third-highest winning percentage in the NCAA at the Division II level.

The track surrounding the football playing field underwent a renovation in 2020 that included installation of a top-of-the-line Mondo Track surface with purple lanes around the oval, gold exchange zones and a gold-colored "D" zone for high jumps. It is one of only two purple-colored track surfaces in the United States. Farrell Stadium’s other track and field amenities include separate runways and pits for the horizontal jumps and pole vault and a newly created ring and sector for shot put.  The full-size throwing cage adjacent to Farrell Stadium contains separate circles for hammer and discus.
