The 622-seat facility was rebuilt from the ground up with renovations beginning after the completion of the 2014 season. The Mavericks opened the new Allan Saxe Field on Feb. 12, 2015 in the Maverick Invitational against Incarnate Word. UTA cut the ribbon on the clubhouse with a ceremony held on March 21, 2015 with alumni, Maverick Club members and donors taking part in the festivities.
Complementing the new grandstands, a brand new field was laid complete with turf making up the inside foul lines and natural grass comprising the outfield. The press box now features comfortable seating for up to 15 with full University internet access.
Located directly next to the field, UTA has access to a brand new clubhouse that is the home to players and coaches. The clubhouse features locker rooms, showers, offices and areas for the players to relax. Previously, players had to make their way to the Maverick Stadium to change and get ready for a game. The softball team opened its indoor hitting facility at the beginning of the 2013 season.
A state of the art four-angle camera system used for video editing, evaluation and in-game shots was added in September 2018 that features cameras at the first base dugout, third base dugout, home plate and center field. The entrance to Allan Saxe Field was repainted in January 2020. Renovation and installation of an updated scoreboard and video board is scheduled to be completed in 2021.
The complex was originally built in 1974 as Arlington Athletic Center and renovated for a first time in 1993.
The softball field is named in honor of Dr. Allan Saxe. Allan Saxe Field offers fans the opportunity to watch the team up close to the action in an intimate setting.
